Mr Teape called to say that the
water in his well was returned as
usual, to thank us for the trouble
that had been taken and to
enquire wether the same inconvenience
was likely to occur in sinking the
great shaft I answered that every
precaution would be take to prevent
it on account of the expense which
would otherwise be incurred for pumping
&c—
Tuesday 20th              
went to town . was sent for by Mr
Montagne went to him and there was
nothing to say or do – [Went down to
Redriff found the pile driven about
8ft it sunk about an inch a blow –
nothing particular. The pipe ready
for boring but waiting for the engine
to draw the rods. —
